Set is a god of power, war, deserts, storms, and foreign lands in ancient Egyptian mythology, and one of the nine pillars of Heliopolis. He was the second son of Gabe and Nut, the husband of Nefertis, and the father of Anubis. He had used trickery to kill his brother Osiris, but was later killed by his nephew Horus.

The image of Seth is usually a jackal headed human deity with rectangular ears and a curved and protruding mouth. Some people believe that this actually depicts the earth dolphin, or another unidentified beast. In addition to the animals mentioned above, Seth is sometimes depicted with the heads of antelopes, donkeys, crocodiles, or hippopotamuses.

According to the Greek historian Herodotus, Seth was originally a deity worshipped by the Berbers. Some scholars believe that Seth is the sea god Poseidon of the Berbers. A more common nickname for Seth is "great of strength". In a pyramid text, it is explained that the power of the king is the power of Seth.
When the sun god Ra travels through the underworld at night, Seth is guarding beside him. The most noteworthy thing is that he once fought against the evil dark snake Apep, who attacks the god of Ra every night, and killed him. Later, when Seth's brother Osiris became a much more important deity, Seth gradually became seen as the opposite of him. Due to the emergence of a myth about Seth killing Osiris in battle, Seth began to become the god of evil.
Seth is often compared to Horus. Due to Horus being a heavenly god, Seth is also regarded as the god of the earth. The metal ore from underground is called the "bone of Seth". In 3000 BC, Seth replaced Horus as the patron saint of the pharaohs; But when the legend of Seth murdering his brother spread, Horus was replaced again.
