Sekhmet was a lioness god in ancient Egyptian mythology, originally a goddess of war and a medical goddess in Upper Egypt. She is depicted as a lioness, recognized by the Egyptians as the most fierce hunter. Some people say that her breathing formed the desert. She is seen as the protector of the pharaohs and guides them in war.

During the first pharaoh of the 12th Dynasty in Egypt, her worship held a high position in religious culture. Amenemhat I relocated the Egyptian capital to Itjtawy, and her worship also moved to the political center. During the existence of ancient Egypt for about three thousand years, religion, royal lineage, and governance were intricately intertwined.
Sekhmet was also a sun god, sometimes referred to as the daughter of the sun god Ra, often mixed with the goddesses Hator and Best. She represents the Holy Serpent Uraeus (English: Uraeus) and the throne together with Wedjat, representing the solar disk above her head. Through these connections, she can be seen as the divine judge of the goddess Ma'at, who represents justice or order in the Osiris Court. She (Eye of Ra) is confused with Vajit and Tefnut.
Legend has it that Sekhmet was sent to provoke war against those who believed that the sun god La had weakened. Due to the extent of her destruction, La had to design a plan to stop her. La used pomegranate juice to dye a lake of beer red, deceiving her into drinking the lake water that she mistook for blood. Sekhmet finally fell drunk, and humanity was saved as a result.

The name 'Sekhmet' comes from the ancient Egyptian word 'sekhem', meaning 'power'. The name of Sekhmet is very suitable for the role she plays, meaning 'powerful and powerful'. She was also given the names of "Demon Conqueror", "Fear of a mistress", "Massacre of the Lady", and "Her Attack". She is also regarded as a special goddess in charge of menstruation.

In order to appease Sekhmet's anger, the priestesses held daily ceremonies in front of different statues of the goddess throughout the year, which resulted in many of the goddess's statues being preserved. Most statues are made strictly and do not show any movement or strong expressions; This design is designed to last for a long time and not to reflect any form of activity or action related to it. It is estimated that over 700 statues of Sekhmet once stood in the tomb temple of Amenhotep III on the west bank of the Nile alone.
She is envisioned as a fierce lioness, depicted in artistic works as a lioness or a lion headed woman dressed in a blood red dress. Sometimes on both sides of the chest of the clothes she wears, there is a Rosetta pattern - an ancient lion pattern that can be seen under the lion's mane on both shoulders. Occasionally, in sculptures or carvings, Sekhmet is also depicted dressed in minimal or nude clothing. The lions tamed in Leontopolis were imprisoned in a temple to be dedicated to Sekhmet.
