• Apollo and Daphne is a marble figure sculpture created by Italian sculptor Zian Lorenzo benini from about 1622 to 1623 (or 1622 to 1625). The work is now collected in the bolgaise Museum in Rome, Italy.
  The sculpture is based on an ancient Greek myth, which shows that Daphne began to change into a laurel when she was touched by Apollo's hand.
  The sculpture adopts the dynamic composition of running. The arms of the two people are extended into a semicircular arc, which is consistent with the actions under their feet, so that their body curves are as beautiful as elegant dancing.
  The sculpture shows the moment when Apollo's hand touched Daphne's body. They were both running in the wind, with light and beautiful bodies. In the performance of the sculpture, Daphne's body was so warm and real that she began to become a laurel tree. Her walking legs turned into tree trunks and implanted into the earth. Leaves grew from her floating hair and stretched fingers. However, Daphne's whole body still has the posture of flying in the air. She turned her head sideways, her eyes strabismus, her eyes numb from fear. Apollo watched Daphne turn into a laurel tree. His expression changed from surprise to sadness, but he couldn't recover it. One of his hands is still on Daphne's body, and the other hand extends obliquely downward in a straight line with Daphne's arm.
