Fontana di Trevi is located at the intersection of three streets in Rome, Italy, because there are three roads extending outward in front of the fountain, and the "Trevi Trevi" of the Trevi Fountain means three forked roads, which is also the origin of the name of the fountain. The fountain of the Wishing Pool is the last masterpiece of Baroque architecture in Rome. It is the largest and most famous fountain in Rome, and therefore becomes one of the symbols of Rome.
As early as 19 BC, the fountain was the end point of the ancient Romans' introduction of the Virgin Spring into the waterways of Rome. In 1629, Pope Urban VIII thought that the previous fountain was not obvious enough and asked Gian Lorenzo Bernini to renovate it. Bernini renovated the square on the other side and moved the spring water to face the Girina Palace (the Pope can look down and enjoy it), laying the foundation for the Salvi fountain. However, when the Pope died, the project was abandoned. Trevi Fountain was originally located at the junction of three roads and the end of Acqua Vergine, the Roman aqueduct waterway. These waterways were the pipelines responsible for transporting drinking water in ancient Rome. With the development of the Renaissance in the 15th century, the Roman architectural style was revived, so they began to build magnificent fountains at the end of the waterway. At the beginning of the 18th century, the Ferdinando Fuga of Nicola Micheltti and the Edme Bouchardon architecture of France became the two major architectural styles in the Baroque era. In 1730, Pope Clement XII held a fountain competition, in which the fountain designed by Nicola Salvi finally won. Nicola Salvi skillfully borrowed the palace behind him by borrowing scenes, It makes Poseidon and Triton full of life. The construction was officially started in 1732 and took 30 years to complete in 1762. The fountain of the Wishing Pool was the last baroque masterpiece in Rome and became one of the symbols of Rome. It is known as the most famous fountain in the world and became famous all over the world after the movie Roman Holiday became popular all over the world.
With a total height of 25.9 meters (85 feet) and a height of 19.8 meters (65 feet), the wishing pool is the largest baroque fountain in the world. In the pool, there is a huge statue of Poseidon, the god of the sea, with a carriage on his back and surrounded by the gods of Western mythology. Each statue has a different look. The base of the statues of the gods is a seemingly messy sea reef.
The main body of the fountain is in front of the sea god. The spring water gushes out from between statues and sea reefs, flows in all directions, and finally gathers in one place. At the same time, he is also the shooting scene of the famous movie "Roman Holiday". Especially in the evening, with the light and yellow sky, it is really beautiful to see.
This magnificent spray line sculpture tells the story of the sea god. The background building is Poseidon Palace, a sea god. The top of the background wall is decorated with the papal badge. The Pope's triple crown above symbolizes heaven, earth and hell. Two keys to heaven are standing in the middle of Poseidon, and two water gods are guarding the side.
There are four girls standing under the religious crown. They are the group sculpture "Four Seasons Goddess", representing the four seasons respectively. The first lady on the left holds fruit to represent the vigorous "spring", the second goddess holds ears of wheat to represent the golden "summer", the third goddess holds wine to represent the harvest "autumn", and the last goddess carries withered branches to represent the withered "winter". There are two reliefs below the Four Seasons Goddess. On the left is the girl pointing out the place where the spring water gushes out on the ground, so this fountain is also called the "girl fountain".

Wishing Pool (2 pieces)
The fountain building is completely symmetrical from left to right. On the huge shell under the middle round arch stands a majestic sea god Poseidon (Greek: Ποσειδ ῶ ν、 English: Poseidon) statue, he drives the carriage and commands his son Triton (the same as the half man, the lower half of the fish) to control the horses. The wild and unruly on the left and the gentle and serene on the right symbolize turbulence and calm respectively. The statue of the sea god was designed by the sculptor Pie tro Bracci in 1762. There are two water gods on the left and right sides of the sea god. The goddess on the left side of the sea god pours in the water jar. The flowing water means wealth. The goddess on the right is holding a water bowl in her right hand, and a snake is drinking to symbolize health. The marble statue of the sea god on the main part of the fountain is lifelike, and the tiny parts, such as the huge shells pulled by seahorses, are also handled beautifully.
The wishing pool is a symbol of strength. The Romans have a beautiful legend. It is said that when you throw a coin into the pool with your back to the fountain, you can make three wishes, but one of them must be "Fa ritorno a Roma". [1] The wishing pool is also a symbol of love. It is said that when couples put coins into the pool together, love will last forever. The fact that many tourists are lining up by the fountain to toss coins in is proof that they are fascinated by the city.
In November 2015, Trevi Fountain was opened to tourists with a new look after 17 months of renovation. "Wishing Pool" is a difficult project that took 516 working days. 130 manpower including professional and technical workers, engineers and repair experts were employed in the repair project, with a total area of 840 square meters. The restoration project of the "Wishing Pool" was donated by Fendi, a luxury goods company, for 2.18 million euros. At the completion ceremony that night, Pietro Becari, chief executive officer of Fendi, announced that Fendi would continue to fund the restoration of other four fountains in Rome.
