The god Serapis, also known as Serapis in foreign languages, was a god of decline. His wife is Isis.
Character Introduction
Serapis: God of decline, designed by the Greeks by combining Osiris and Apis, regarded as the husband of Isis, the god of afterlife and fertility, as well as a doctor and troublemaker. He has never received much worship from the Egyptians, and his place of worship is in Alexandre.
Serapis (also written as Sarapis) was introduced into Egypt by the first Macedonian king to rule Egypt, Ptolemy I (323-283BC), for the purpose of ruling and reconciling the Egyptians and Greeks. Originating from Osiris and the god Apis, it also has the characteristics of Asclepius (Greek god of medicine), Dionysus (Greek god of wine), and Pluto (Greek king of the underworld). At the feet of Selapis, there also lay the Hellhead, the guardian of the underworld.
Cerapis is believed to manifest in mortal dreams, just like his bride Isis in the eyes of the Greeks.
The attached picture shows a marble bust of Selapis collected in a museum in London. It is estimated that it was made in the second or early third century AD. He wore Modius on his head, a container for weighing grains with a capacity of about a quarter of a bushel, as a symbol of abundant and generous land, and also a commonality between him and Osiris. In Egyptian mythology, Osiris taught the people how to cultivate when he was king.
