Nyx (Greek: Νύξ, English: Nyx), also known as Nox in Rome, is the goddess of night in Greek mythology, one of the primitive gods. The noumenon and incarnation of night were born by Chaos Kaus together with her husband and brother Erebus. Nyx is not only a noble deity, but also one of the few great deities in Greek mythology that has strong power in all mythological systems. He also has a strong power to restrict both mortals and gods.
Nyx is a god with symbolic meanings, such as sky light, day, dream, death, sleep, fate, pain, aging, and hard work.
Nyx, Hecarte, Heracles and so on are the gods that Zeus respected. Nyx is the adoptive mother of Zeus in Orpheus.
Divine spectrum
In Hesiod's "Theology", she is the daughter of the chaotic god Caos and a goddess dressed in black. In Orpheus, Nyx is regarded as the supreme god of three phase goddesses, and has three different supernatural identities at the same time. She can be the fixed number goddess - Ananke, the retribution goddess - Adrastea, and the cause and effect goddess - Hermarmene.
[Note 1: Nyx's three supernatural identities belong to the trinity, representing his different manifestations as the supreme goddess.]
She and her brother Erebus (dark) gave birth to Etel (space) and Hemera (day), and then she gave birth to Mormes (ridicule), Moros (fate), Tanatos (death), Shupnos (sleep), Oneiros (dream), and Hesperides (dusk), Caron (the netherworld boatman), three Moiles (fate), Nemesis (revenge) Apate (deceit), Kakia (evil), Philotes (friendship), Geras (old) and Eris (discord).

Nyx (Ancient Greek: Νύξ, Nyx, the earliest god born, was Caos, representing the emergence of the universe. Then Gaia, Tartaros and Eros were born alone. Later, Kaus gave birth to Erebus and Nyx alone. [2]
Nyx and her brother Erebus represent the dark side of Caos. She and Erebus gave birth to Etel and Hermera (see Hesiod's Divine Manual). There are also myths that Hesperides, Hypnos, Tanatos, Moirai, Hecat, Geras, Eris [3], and Caron (see Juvenal 3.267; Eustatus on Homer 1666) [4] were also born by them. Nyx herself has also given birth to many strange children, most of whom are evil gods that are not unattractive.
Some of her children joined the ranks of the heavenly gods, while others became the underworld gods. Although the Nyx Family was not equal to the gods of heaven, earth/sea, and the gods of the nether world, its power could not be underestimated. Not only Hades, but also Zeus, the king of the gods, had to weigh his own weight.
In the classical art modeling, Nyx is a woman wearing a black star gauze, holding the infant god of sleep or death, and flying up to the sky every evening in a car pulled by a black horse.
In Greek mythology, Nyx is a very old and powerful god, which is the original. Nyx is not only a noble deity, but also one of the few great deities in Greek mythology that has strong power in all mythological systems. He also has a strong power to restrict both mortals and gods. Due to his power and identity, Zeus was afraid of three parts.
Homer mentioned in the Iliad that only Nyx who "subdued everything" made Zeus, the heavenly father, respect him. (However, in the Divine Book [2], it is said that Zeus also respected Hecarte and Heracles.) Because Hera wanted to kill Heracles who had left Troya and returned by sea, in order not to be discovered by Zeus, she let Hypnos make Zeus fall asleep. When Zeus woke up, he learned that Heracles had been blown to Kos. In anger, he hung Hera in shackles on Olympus Mountain and threw Hypnos down on Olympus. He was still angry and threatened to invade Hypnos into Tartaros. Hypnos had to hide in his mother Nyx's robe so that Zeus could not find it, and because of his respect for Nyx, Zeus also gave up [3].
Nyx lives in the underworld, and her residence is also full of black air. Whenever the evening star Hesperus opened her way, she left the underworld, flew up to the sky in her chariot, covered the earth with night, and immersed the world in peace. Nyx is ancient and powerful, and even Zeus, the emperor of heaven, respects her.
In the ancient divinities of Orpheus Esoteric Buddhism, Nyx is the original and equal to Chronos, the god of time. In the Orpheus Divine Manual of Holy Words, Nyx has three different supernatural identities (Trimurti) at the same time. She can be Chronos' wife and Phanes's mother - the goddess of certain number Akenan, the wife - the goddess of natural law Adrastia and the daughter - the goddess of causality and destiny Hermar Mene. In fact, Phanes evolved from Eros. In the ancient version, Eros is usually the son of Nyx (sometimes confused with Aphrodite). In the secret religion, Nyx was also regarded as Zeus's foster mother [1] [5].
Nyx combined with Erebus to give birth to Etel, the goddess of sky light, and Hemera, the goddess of day. She also gave birth alone to a large number of evil gods who harm the world.
