Character Introduction
The image of Nut is a woman supported by the air god Shu and covered in stars; Across from her (sky) is her husband Gabe (earth).
Because Nut and Gaib were so affectionate and inseparable that there was no living space for the creatures in the world, their father was ordered by the sun god Ra to separate the two lovers. In the murals of Ancient Egypt, it was often seen that the goddess who covered the earth with her limbs to form the sky was separated from Gaib who lay flat to form the earth in a kneeling position. [1]
The sun god La enters her mouth every night after sunset, and is reborn from her lower body the next morning. She also swallowed and regenerated the stars like this.
At the same time, Nurt was also the goddess of death, and the pharaohs' coffins and tombs were named after Nurt, or statues of Nurt were carved to show that they were under her protection. Legend has it that Nut could also provide air, water, and food to the undead for their survival in the underworld. Therefore, Nut is also known as the "Lord of All Things".
Legend has it that after the marriage of Nut and Gabe, despite their frequent quarrels and disturbances, in order to promote the prosperity of all living beings in the world, Nut constantly bred offspring, so that the blood of this couple flowed from the stars in the sky to everything on the earth.
At first, the gods did not pay attention, but Ra God sensed an unusual aura. As the number of children of Nut and Gabe increased, humans began to change their revered goal to Nut. They presented the best tribute to Nut to pray for her continued benefit, thus ignoring the worship of the sun god. In order to protect her rights from infringement, Ra cursed Nut, allowing her to only give birth in five days beyond the 360 days in the Egyptian calendar at that time, which were known as the "God's Birthday".
In these five days, Nut gave birth to Osiris, Isis, Seth, Nephthys and other children. Her children are famous and occupy a very important seat in Egyptian mythology, so Nut has always been a very important goddess.
