Lakshmi is an outstanding Hindu God. He is also respected by Buddhists and Jains.
Goddess of wealth Lakshmi is a famous Hindu God and is also respected by Buddhists and alsona. Her outstanding position in the Hindu pantheon stems not only from her role as the wife of Vishnu (the preserver of the Hindu Trinity), but also from her rights as the goddess of wealth, prosperity and auspiciousness. Although Lakshmi's artistic description varies from region to region, local traditions and artistic media, some symbols related to Lakshmi make Lakshmi clearly identifiable.
Like the Hindu gods, Lakshmi is often depicted with four arms. The outward palm (usually the lower right arm) indicates blessing. She may also raise a pot with one hand or take a bath and pour gold coins to show material wealth and abundance. Because of its connection with wealth, Lakshmi's image is often decorated with South Asian coinage. Many rulers of the South Asian Kingdoms (Hindus and Muslims) issued coins with a goddess sitting on a lotus.
Lotus symbolizes purity and enlightenment and enjoys high respect in Hindu culture. Lakshmi is often depicted holding lotus buds in one or two of her four arms. It may also make her sit or stand on the lotus. Cambodian art usually depicts Lakshmi as a lonely standing figure holding a lotus bud in a temple, while in Vietnamese art, she usually sits.
