Icarus (Greek: Ίκαρος English name: Icarus) is the son of Daedalus in Greek mythology. When he fled Crete with Daedalus using wings made of wax and feathers, he was buried on an island because the wax on his wings was melted by the sun and fell into the water. In memory of Icarus, the island where Icarus was buried was named Icaria Island.

Daedalus of Greece was the son of Matthian, the great grandson of Eriktus, and also a member of the Erik people. He is a great artist, an architect and sculptor. People from all over the world highly appreciate his artworks. However, Daedalus was a person who loved vanity and jealousy. This flaw tempted him to do evil and put him in a tragic situation.
Daedalus had a nephew named Talos. Talos learned from him, but his talent was higher than that of Daedalus, and he was determined to make greater achievements. Even as a child, Talos had already invented clever tools such as a pottery wheel, saw, and compass. Daedalus was worried that his students would surpass him, and because of jealousy, he brutally killed his own students. But he escaped, lost his way in Attica in panic, wandered for a long time, and finally arrived at Crete Island. He found King Minos and settled there. He became a friend of the king and was greatly respected as a renowned artist.
Although Daedalus was praised, he always harbored a nostalgia for his hometown due to his long absence from home, and he felt that the king did not actually trust him and lacked sincerity towards him. Therefore, he did not want to waste his life on this lonely island. He tried to escape. The strong sunlight of the sun melted the sealing wax, and the feathers sealed together with wax began to loosen. Icarus has not yet found that the wings have completely spread out and rolled down from his shoulders. The unfortunate child had to paddle in despair with both hands in the air, but he couldn't rise and fell head first, eventually falling into the vast ocean, where the vast expanse of blue waves engulfed him. All of this happened suddenly and ended in an instant, without Daedalus realizing it. When he turned around again, he didn't see his son. "Icarus, Icarus!" He had a bad feeling and shouted, "Where are you? Where can I find you?" Finally, he looked down in horror. He saw many feathers floating on the sea surface. Daedalus quickly collected his wings and landed on an island, setting them aside. He opened his eyes wide and searched with hope. After a while, the surging waves pushed his son's body onto the shore. Oh my goodness! Taros, who was killed by him, avenged his hatred with this! The desperate father buried his son's body. In memory of his son, the island where Icarus's body was buried was called Khalia.
Daedalus continued to fly in sorrow. He flew to Sicily, where King Corcoras ruled. Just as he was once treated by Minos on Crete, he was also warmly received here as a distinguished guest. He cultivated many famous artists here and became the founder of Sicily's indigenous culture. Although he was respected and treated there, due to his son's tragic death in the sea, his heart remained unhappy and he became even more melancholic and distressed in his later years. Finally, he died in Sicily and was buried there.
