Kress (Latin: C ĕ R ē s. English: Ceres), the goddess of agriculture and harvest in Roman mythology, is one of the twelve main gods of Rome. Corresponding to Demeter in Greek mythology.
Chris is Jupiter's sister and one of the most popular deities in the West. She taught humans to cultivate and gave the earth vitality. She has boundless magical power, which can make the land fertile, plants lush, and grains abundant, as well as make the land wither, all things wither, and no grass grows. It can provide people with endless wealth, while also making their families destitute and impoverished.
Kreis is the daughter of Satune and Ops, the sister and spouse of Jupiter, the mother of Proserpina, the Sibling of Juno, Vesta, Nipton and Pluto, and the patron saint of Sicily.
The word 'grain' in Latin comes from her. Ceres is also the name of the first asteroid (Ceres) discovered by Italian astronomer Piazzi.
Origin of Winter
Chris has a beautiful daughter named Proserpina, who is the apple of Chris' eyes. Proserpina likes gardening very much and plays in the wild flowers all day long. One day, when she was picking flowers in the fields of Sicily, suddenly a crack opened on the cliff, and Pluto, the Pluto, drove out of it with a golden carriage. Pluto fell in love with Proserpina at the first sight of her frightened eyes. Then she could not help but pick up Proserpina in the carriage and drove back to Hades. Chris heard his daughter's cry for help and when he arrived on the field, her daughter was already missing. Worried, Chris searched all over Sicily, but finally found nothing. Angry Kress vented her anger on innocent island residents, causing all the crops on the island to wither and the entire island to become lifeless and barren. Jupiter, the god of heaven, could not bear it, so he had to tell her Proserpina's whereabouts. Chris angrily went to Pluto and asked him to return his daughter, but the scheming Hades had already let Proserpina swallow a pomegranate in the underworld, making it impossible for her to return to the world. The helpless Kress begged Jupiter to allow her to go down to the underworld to accompany her daughter, but for the growth and reproduction of all things, Jupiter refused her request. Desperate Kress ignored the world from then on, and the world suddenly became chaotic: plants no longer grew, barren land and hungry refugees were everywhere, and the black color representing death slowly replaced the green color of life. For the sake of all sentient beings, Jupiter had to promise Kress three months of the year to go down to the underworld to accompany his daughter. From then on, in the three months after Chris left the mortal world, the earth no longer produced, which is the origin of winter.
Turning stones into gold
Legend has it that King Medaya of Flemish once made an effort to search for his daughter in Kress. In order to repay him, Kress agreed to fulfill Medaya's wish. Midaya did not want good weather for the country, nor did he want gold and silver treasures. He took a liking to the golden staff in Kress's hand. As the goddess of the earth and harvest, the precious treasure in one's hand cannot be given to others, so Kress cast spells to give Midaya the ability to turn stones into gold. Maidaya is very happy to have this ability because he can become the wealthiest person in the world. Wherever his fingers point, there are piles of gold. But his joy did not last long, as his family and friends around him were also turned into gold by him, and the most terrifying thing was that he could not even eat food. Finally, he could only pray that Chris would regain his magic and return to his previous life.
